Special Liberty Project

The Special Liberty Project serves Healing Veterans and Gold Star Families through Nature-Based Healing Retreats that foster a supportive community by connecting them with nature through outdoor experiences that promote camaraderie, resilience, and well-being. Special Liberty Project (SLP) specific programs include SERVS (Series of Equine Retreats for Veteran Spouses), V.E.T. (Veterans Exploring Together), Healing Hope Retreats for Gold Star Families, and Mini Acts of Kindness (a program where SLP’s mini horses and donkey visit Veterans and Gold Star Families).

Volunteer Opportunities

Every Friday, volunteers gather at the SLP retreat center to help. Opportunities to make a difference are endless from working in the vegetable garden, helping with the horses and mini horses (including Buddy the mini donkey), trail maintenance and so much more. Each volunteer day is fun and a wonderful chance to meet others who support our nation’s Healing Veterans and Gold Star Families. To sign up, simply click here.
