Pickens Nose Trail

A moderately challenging 1.4 mile out and back trail which follows the ridge line and leads to Pickens Nose lookout. Most of the way is covered by beautiful rhododendrons with great views of the rolling Appalachian hills. The trail is rocky and uneven in some sections, which can make it more challenging. Depending on the conditions, the gate for the road leading directly to the trailhead parking may be closed for winter. Generally, January through April 1. But if conditions allow, the Forest Service may leave it open. The trail, however, is always open.
