. . . . .
David Childers is a North Carolina–based songwriter, poet, and visual artist known for his deeply literary songs and unmistakable voice. Drawing from folk, rock, country, and old-time traditions, his work explores themes of faith, redemption, love, and the human condition—often with the feel of short stories set to music.
A longtime figure in the Southern music landscape, Childers has earned the respect of fellow artists including The Avett Brothers and has performed on stages from MerleFest to Mountain Stage. His songs are rich with character and place, shaped by a lifetime of creative work that has included music, painting, and poetry.
Originally from Mount Holly, NC, Childers spent years practicing law before fully committing to his artistic path. Over the course of his career, he’s released a number of acclaimed albums and built a reputation as a true original—an outsider in the best sense of the word.
Recently inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame, David Childers stands as one of the region’s most distinctive and enduring voices in songwriting.
